A key purpose of the Office of Student Support Services is to assist students in achieving their educational goals by offering advocacy services and assistance in resolving students’ concerns. Through a network of key professionals across the institute, prompt response and personal attention is provided to help students resolve their concerns in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Academic Advising

As an international student, you are provided with academic advising in different phases: when you choose your paper and major. In the first phase, most first-year students are advised in the Institute. Advisors, assigned on the basis of your major area of interest, help you select courses and plan your schedule. They also explain the institute’s academic regulations and answer questions about registration, programs of study, tutoring, proficiency testing, and other academic matters. If you do not have a major, you may seek an adviser's help in selecting one. You will be advised in the institute until you meet the requirements to be accepted by the institute of your major program of study. The entrance requirements of the programme Regent offered all differ. All students who enrolled the New Zealand Diploma in Business Programme must complete 240 credits than able to award the qualification.

Transfer Students

If you have completed or passed some papers from previous institute 4-5-6-7level work, you will be advised either in the Diploma programme which Regent offered or accepted directly by Regent of your major, depending on the number of credit hours accepted by the specific courses completed. You should check with the Office of Admissions to determine your advising status.

Graduate Students

Graduate students are assigned to advisors by their graduate programs who will counsel the graduate students on how to reach their educational objectives. In addition, the advisor will prepare a program of study for the student. The program of study is a defined program that is negotiated between a student and an academic department offering a program. The institution specifically indicates that it will award the course sought by the student if the work stipulated in the program is satisfactorily completed. By signing the program of study form, the graduate student specifically agrees to his or her responsibilities for completing the requirements of the program. Programs of study should be consistent with published curricula and course requirements.

Once the program of study has been signed by the student and the advisor and approved by the appropriate graduate program officer or department chair, a student may make changes in his or her program of study only if the changes still meet program requirements and are approved by the advisor and the graduate program officer. The student should consult with the academic program for the procedure for initiating such changes.

  Special Needs and Disabilities

Some additional needs may require pre-planning to ensure necessary support is in place. It may be necessary to adjust the student’s fee to cover support to be provided to the student, during their enrolment. Student needs to make Regent aware of any special needs and/or disabilities. The staff at Regent will refer student to appropriate support services/agencies.

Refer to: Application for Special Assistance form.
